You play as a group of friends who accidentally open a portal, spilling ghosts into the world. You’ve then got to work together to figure out how to deal with the creatures.
And how you deal with them is entirely up to you. Oxenfree gives you an unprecedented level of freedom to make your own decisions, and your actions will genuinely affect the story.

The consequences will also extend to your relationships as well. If you perform an action that another disagrees with, you might end up falling out.
This is all played out with an intelligent conversation system. Your friends will discuss your actions with you, and you can respond to them in any manner you wish. If an event interrupts your conversation, they’ll even pick it back up again later.
Most of your adventure involves talking to spirits to help solve a mystery, and you achieve this using a radio. Solve all of the mysteries, and you complete the game.
